Balsamic Caramel Cherry Tomatoes - Candy Apple Style

Pretty little cherry tomatoes dressed in a balsamic caramel and rolled in seeds, just like candy apples (pommes d’amour). A vegan and parve recipe.

Ingredients

Check off ingredients as you go

  • 20 cherry tomatoes (preferably in different colors)
  • 150 g (¾ cup) sugar
  • 150 g (½ cup) honey
  • 1 Tbsp water
  • 1 tsp balsamic glaze
  • 1 squeeze lemon juice (optional)

For decorating

  • mixed sesame seeds or poppy seeds
  1. Wash and dry the cherry tomatoes. Spear each one with a toothpick or mini skewer.

  2. Put the honey and sugar in a saucepan and let them cook into a caramel without stirring. As soon as the sugar has melted and thickened into a caramel, add the remaining ingredients.

  3. Gently dip a tomato into the balsamic caramel, then roll it in the sesame seeds. Set it on a serving plate and continue until you run out of ingredients.
