Ingredients

    Makes about 20 mendiants

    • 200 g (7 oz) dark chocolate
    • about 20 of each, unsalted of course
    • hazelnuts
    • almonds
    • dried cranberries or candied orange peel
    • raisins
    • pistachios
    1. Melt the chocolate bar in a double boiler (bain-marie).

    2. On a silicone mat or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, use a tablespoon or a piping bag to form small circles, flattening them with the back of the spoon, then arrange the dried fruits and nuts nicely on top.

    3. Chill until the chocolate disks are fully set, and they’re ready! Using a spatula, gently lift them off and store in a glass container. Take them out at the last minute so the mendiants don’t melt.

    Tips and variations

    • Vary the nuts to suit your taste and whatever you have in your pantry (cashews, pecans, walnuts…) and do the same with the dried fruits (goji berries, dried or candied fruits…)
