For two loaf pans
- 4 eggs
- 185g (1½ cups) powdered sugar
- 2 packets vanilla sugar
- 80g (⅓ cup) neutral oil
- 140ml (½ cup + 1 tbsp) orange juice
- 250g (2 cups) sifted flour
- 2 level teaspoons baking powder
- some sliced almonds
In a mixing bowl, add in order the eggs, sugar and vanilla sugar, mix well until smooth, then add the oil, orange juice and finally the flour and baking powder. Mix again (without beating). Pour into two loaf pans.
Bake in the middle of the oven at 160°C (320°F) for 30 minutes (check doneness by inserting a toothpick or knife tip which should come out clean).
Right out of the oven, drizzle maple syrup over both cakes, and brush with a pastry brush over the entire top. Sprinkle with sliced almonds or other nuts (walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts…).
Variations
- You can replace the maple syrup with honey slightly warmed to make it liquid.
