Caramelized oven-roasted onions with just 2 ingredients and no effort, perfect as a side dish for meat or in a quiche.

    Serves 6

    • 4 red and/or yellow onions
    • a drizzle of olive oil
    1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Drizzle olive oil on a baking sheet.
    2. Cut both ends off the onions, then cut in half and remove the outer layer which is usually dirty.

    Oven-roasted onions - before cooking

    1. Place the onions on the baking sheet, cut side down, and bake for about 35-40 minutes or until the onions are tender and caramelized. Smaller ones take less time than larger ones, so keep an eye on them until they reach your desired consistency. Red onions generally caramelize faster.
